  • Daniel Black- Math Teacher

My name is Daniel Black, and I am glad to be the math teacher at Mountain View Academy. I come from a background in computer programming, where I applied mathematics every day. I believe in praising student effort, helping to create a rounded character, and helping students to become critical thinkers in all areas, not just math. I think building student rapport and being fair, consistent, and mindful is an important part of teaching.

  • Susan Sherwood- In memoriam

Mountain View Academy was Susan’s idea, and it never would have come into existence without her vision and tireless effort. Susan was never one to stand idle when she saw others in need, and she knew that she and her family had the skills required to build a school that provided great education, both academically and socially/emotionally.

Opening this school made the last year of Susan’s life much harder than it needed to be, but also so much more fulfilling. She was intensely proud of this school, and all it stood for, and had great vision for what it could become as we continued to grow and improve.

We hope to continue that vision and legacy. The same qualities that helped Susan open Mountain View Academy are traits we work to instill in our students.

The compassion and selflessness required to help make the world a better place, not just for yourself but for everyone. The courage and confidence to have a dream and go for it. And the work ethic and discipline required to bring that dream to fruition.
